Urad Dhal Vada - Pan fried

Preparation Time: 10 mins + 1 hr soaking time 
Cooking Time: 3-4 mins per batch
Servings: For 3-4 persons

Urad Dhal Vada - In Paniyaram Pan
Ingredients:
  • Whole Urad Dhal - 1 cup
  • Rice - 1 tbsp
  • Salt - to taste
  • Water - as required
  • Pepper - 1 tbsp (adjust as per taste)
  • Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
  • Green chilly, chopped - 1-2 nos (Optional)
  • Oil - for roasting
Method:
  1. Wash and soak Urad dhal and rice for atleast 1 hour
  2. Drain the water and grind in wet grinder to a smooth fluffy batter without adding water. (If needed sprinkle some water while grinding)
  3. Take the batter in a bowl, add pepper, green chillies, Cumin seeds and required salt; mix well
  4. Heat Paniyaram pan, add few drops of oil in each hole
  5. Once the pan becomes hot, add a spoon of batter into each hole
  6. Reduce the flame to medium and cover the pan with lid; allow to cook for 1-2 mins (If needed, we can sprinkle few drops of oil over the batter)
  7. Then flip it over and allow to cook the other side without covering with lid
  8. Once its done, remove from the pan and repeat the same for the remaining batter
  9. Serve hot with Sambar and chutney!
