Avocado Paratha - this is very soft paratha and kids will enjoy it. For a change I had added carrots this time and it came out well.
Ingredients:
- Wheat flour / Atta - 1 cup + 1 tbsp for rolling
- Avocado, ripen - 1 no
- Carrot, shredded- 1/4 cup
- Lime/ Lemon juice - 1 tsp
- Cumin powder - 1/4 tsp
- Chat masala - 1/4 tsp
- Chilli powder - 1/2 tsp (Optional)
- Salt - to taste
- Water - 1-2 tbsp (if required)
- Oil -for toasting parathas
- Take the pulp from the ripened avocado in a bowl, add lime juice, salt, masala powders and chilli powder, mash together until well combined
- If you're making for kids, you can omit chilli and masala powders / or add just the chat masala
- In a wide bowl, take the wheat flour, shredded carrot and the avocado mixture, knead together to form a smooth and soft dough
- The moisture from the avocado will suffice for the dough and only if required sprinkle water for kneading
- Keep the dough covered and let it rest for at least 30 mins
- Divide the dough into equal lemon sized balls, dust them with flour, roll them to circular parathas. the dough would be very soft to roll into thin circles
- Heat the tawa, place the parathas and cook till bubbles started to appear on the surface; Turn over and cook the other side
- Once it's cooked, spread a little ghee / oil on the paratha and transfer to plate or place it in hot box till you serve
- These parathas are really very soft and tasty; you can have it with any raita / gravy of your choice
- Since chat masala has salt in it, while adding salt adjust accordingly
